Also posted in vet but needed replies xx

Just after any advice. My 11 year old mare has had slightly runny droppings and liquidy trumps for a few weeks. Put her on pro bio and its all clearing up nicely now. Vet came and checked her over and took blood. Everything as it should be except a low white blood cell count. Vet suspects infection. My horse is fine in herself, maintaining a healthy weight ( she has ems) temps perfect, eating, drinking, toileting ok, not lethargic. I havnt ridden her since i got the results but she has been turned out for a few hours a day which she loves doing. Any advice or any similar experiences? Thankyou in advance xx

there are different types of white cells so it would depend on what was low..i would say generally that a low white cell count would indicate immunodeficiency which could leave your horse susceptible to infection.

You would be better advised speaking to your vet to get an explanation in more detail rather from a forum as it may require further investigation.

Best wishes for your girl
