LPG 4x4 users

Hi, Anyone else having problems with lpg in snow/extreme cold? My Jeep cherokee is a nightmare, stuttering and using loads more fuel. I've had it checked and garage can't find anything wrong with it but did suggest cold weather may be cause so wondered if its happening to anyone else?!

I don't have one, but a friend of mine recently bought one. He said the cold weather is a nightmare for LPG. He also seems to have a dual tank so has diesel or petrol as a back up and can switch if necessary.

Must admit I have to let my discovery warm up a bit more so I am using more petrol

Two main problems with LPG at low temperatures. The first is that the vapour pressure drops considerably,(basicly it wants to stay liquid not gas) The second is that the inlet manifold is probably too cold, and Ice is forming. Usually they are water heated but this may not be sufficient.

Mine, using slightly more lpg than normal. However could do with some help with the 4x4 bit with my jeep, could i pm you.

Yes, but this is always the case in cold weather. Both our cars run on LPG and the engine temp needs to be above 40 degrees C before the LPG system runs effectively. I just run it on petrol for 3-4 minutes until the engine heats up, then it works fine.

Also make sure the coolant is topped up correctly. My old discovery was very sensitive to low coolant as it meant the vapouriser wasn't getting warm enough to do its job.
