What a great day!
smile.gif
Compared to last year with pouring rain, times changed a hundred times and my broken collar bone!! This year was a delight, everyone turned up, the weather was amazing and my pony was great
grin.gif

Lucinda make some great points about horses vision yesterday really made me understand about letting Dougals head come up b4 the fence, she also extended my martingale by 3inches on him and it made a massive difference.

Every group jumped the same fences and the same heights bar the triple bar at the end of the lesson, which I thought was great, even the 10yr olds on their ponies in the last group did everything!

It was great to spend some times with Lucinda all day and listen to her comments, also she gave me a few insider comments about people which of course I shall not repeat!!

Overall though she was impressed with the standard, she loved Dougal and said he will look like a completely different horse in a years time.

She came into the horsebox at lunch and had a feast mum had supplied she asked about my job as she thinks its something her daughter would be good at and asked how much I pay for the horses so she knows what to take from her!!! She also came in after for a chat, she was very complimentary of me which was lovely and said there was a few there yesterday she would have liked to see me on!

I got a big hug at the end and she said she would loe to come back again she really enjoyed it

Sounds a lovely day Hols.
Hopefully this is will now give you the confidence to believe in yourself. I had a similar talk with Yogi and it helped a lot.
Shame you didnt get many pics

I think spending a day with her is so beneficial though and little Molly who helped most of the day definitely learnt lots!

Well done on all the arrangements Holly_Jane. Your obviously a little star. Having seen the jumps I'm now wishing I had gone as well.

I'm a definite for next time.

If your thinking about a XC clinic i'd also be up for that. I know its all a bit soon but any idea where u might hold it. I was toying with the Idea of getting a pro down stratford hills / poplar park for a training clinic at some stage

ooo it sounds fab, I think we need to arrange one over this 'ere way... fancy moving westwards H_J to grace us with your excellent organisational skills ?

It was a fab day. If anyone gets the chance to have a lesson with her def jump at it! I still cant believe the trouble I had filling it
frown.gif

I would defo be up for a cross country one - sounds excellent. I think that it would be easier to fill on a weekend. (well it would be easier for me). I couldn't do this one cause of work and cause I have Blyth Tait xc clinic tomorrow and don't want to push my big baby too much!!

Sounds like a great day tho and very well organised so well done!!

H_J glad you had a great day (& no broken bones !). I'm sure that it is only down to Lucinda that I have progressed to where I have with Bina.
I would have loved to have come over but unfortunately work has been very busy. I can't believe how much you struggled to fill the places. I'm sure everyone who attended appreciates you hard work.

wWeekends arent good for Lucinda though im afraid.

We are thinking of Stanford Rivers or something next year maybe end of May ish. I will speak to her nearer the end of this year

It wasnt meant as in bad comments as such! And it was comments said to the whole group when she gathered everyone in. It was just great being in there listening to everything, it was only Molly & me in the arena usually and even just listening to someone like that you gain so much information!
smile.gif

She is excellent

Lol! I think this is what we were referring to
tongue.gif
But Lucinda is very upfront so I am sure her thoughts were made "public"

Yes they were definitely made public!! And it did make me cringe sometimes when she did then go over and tell them!
grin.gif

When she told me and then wondered over I thought god she isnt going to say that to their face is she!!!!

I do have a couple but they are mainly just of Bob not doing much....so a bit dull Im afraid.

Bob was such a tinker yesterday and either jumped like a Pro or like a plonker but Garry thought it was great. No one was made to feel small or inadequate and the atmosphere was fantastic.

It was only spoiled by the lady who sat alongside the menage talking loudly on her mobile phone for the entirity of the session... no idea who she was but MY GOODNESS !! Its not as if there wasnt other places she could go and discuss her business... hmm.....

I have to say, if you ever get a chance to sell yourself into slavery as a helper/fence setter/coffee fetcher/name rememberer/general dog's body for a really high calibre, popular clinician, do it! It's really interesting to hear the "behind the scenes"!

I haven't heard anyone good say anything in private that they wouldn't in public (although perhaps after a run through the tact adjuster) but hearing the stream of consciousness play by play, not just the commands and the edited comments, can be very educational. Plus it helps to hear the same thing over and over and over and over and see how the same very basic principles apply at every level. Plus the interesting people will explain why they're setting an exercise as they are, why they're changing it/putting it up/not putting it up as they go etc. etc.

Be careful though - I've been used as a pylon more than once!

Still wish I could have stolen a horse in time . . .

very interesting

indeed.... cos that little girl is a cracking little jockey and didnt deserve the dressing down she got at the lorry at the "pony change over".

Some times Im glad that I didnt have horsey parents !

No comment but I think she thought that the lessons were 1 hour long and that the little girl had not ridden as instructed.... oooooohhh dear !!

Glad to hear that Lucinda hasn't lost her touch - I did a clinic with her many years ago and she was absolutely excellent! I think it would do my daughter the world of good to go to one of her clinics, so I will keep an eye out for any future ones you run - Essex is a bit of a hike for us, but I think it would be worth it for the standard of instruction.
