Rafi went really badly today ,no sparkle ,no lift in his trot, not forward, he even broke in the canter and he never does that.
He still won the restricted with 65.9% .I thought you needed 66% now in novice qualifiers but looking at the rules restricted still are ok at 65%.
He has a new bridle and saddle ,not sure if he is worried by that ,going to try old bridle ,this one has the padded poll and noseband, maybe pushing on his ears.He is having to wear an H girth with his wow saddle because we can't find a saddle that will not slip on his back, maybe he doesn't like that .She has been riding him bareback a couple of times a week and she says he feels great without a saddle. Problems ,problems.HORSES!

WELL DONE! Just out of interest do all saddles slip or just the WOW? Just wondered cos I never had a problem with last saddle but my WOW slips forward and to the side.

No, every saddle slips , we borrowed Partoow's [name on here] KN with flair for last season and it is the only saddle we have found to stay in place , she didn't want to sell it and suggested a wow .We love the wow and David fitted it but he is so flat we had to have this H girth he was a bit worried about it at first but it does keep the saddle still ,just not sure why he is not going forward

Poor Rafi....

He is having sympathy fatigue for Teddy who has done 6 tests in under a week

Oh now i feel really mean for not letting you buy it but i am using it now on my baby stallion, if i did'nt have him to back you could have had it honest.
i really dont think that anything you have now is doing him harm or is wrong i think this time of year makes us all a bit like that , chin up!! I always like to have a bit of a pants comp before a big one it sharpens both of you up.
If you are still worried you can have the KN for the champs beings as it has been your lucky saddle .
Anything to make you smile !!!

That is so kind, she is really worried and riding bareback more and more. He has had some hair rub under the back of the saddle[ before we had the wow] and I'm not sure if it is getting worse. The H girth obviously pulls the back down and it has to be very tight.

Have you thought of a treeless for him?

They do dressage saddles, I can find out the make of the ones I have saw on at a forum weekend. It just looked like a regular dressage saddle, but was treeless therefore just moulded to the horse. I was thinking it would be perfect for a flatter back???

I have actually just remembered... This http://www.equinewhispers.co.uk/trekkermaster.html is the one I was thinking of, but Heather Moffett also does the Phoenix Dressage that I have heard excellent reports about...

Don't talk to me about saddles!

That's been part of my recent troubles and SUCH a loss of confidence you wouldn't believe!

I'm sorry to hear that he didn't go so well but as Mat says babies can all have an off day so hopefully next time.....

However, you are also very experienced and gut feeling kicks in. The fact that he goes so much better bareback would make me wonder too.

Saddles, yup, they can be a real issue!!!!!!!!! and very costly!! Luckily with my boy now he does not seem to be that bad although he does have a few rub marks on one side ..... and this tends to happen more in winter.....last horse I went through loads of saddles..........as he is growing up still it can be very difficult to find the right one.........
