Today Lucy seems much perkyer although she is still weeing blood and this morning she had a very small eye bleed. She ate loads of hay last night and a whole tub of grass. This morning she ate some more suger beet and boild barley but again she didn't want much happy hoof. I spoke to the vets this morning and they said if she wants to eat suger beet i should let her but i am worried about her lami. My wonderful OH went to the feed shop in his lunch break and bought me some speedy beet which is sutable for lami ponys so i hope she thinks it's normal suger beet and eats it. She needs to eat to keep her stregth up and fight whatever is wrong with her. The vets said they would ring as soon as her results where in but it may not be till tom. They havn't rung yet so i think i'm in for another sleepless night. Oh well atleast she seems happyer and is starting to eat something so she isn't getting worse thank god. I'm at my OHs for the weekend now so have no internet access but when i'm back poss Sun eve or on Mon I'll post another update and let you all know how she is doing and what results we got from her bloods. Thanks again everyone, the support i have recieved on here has been overwhelming.

Thanks guys. Just spoke to the vet :) :) :) :) :) :)
Her kidneys are ok :D :D :D :D Her liver isn't to bad (alittle change but the steroids do that) :D :D :D Red count a little low but with the amount of blood she's loosing that was expected and her white count is up. So it looks like she has a urinary tract infection poor love :(. But atleast that can be treated she starts her antibiotics tom when i pick them up from the vets. :o
I feel sorry for my poor pony but can't help :D :D :D
Hopefuly she'll be on the mend and back on track soon. :D

LW - I haven't posted before as my tinterweb connection is playing silly bu55ers. I have been reading your posts about Lucy and I think you're doing a wonderful job with her. You must have such a strong bond.

fingers crossed. she does seem like she's on the mend from what you've said.

That sounds much more hopeful Laura - good news about her kidneys and liver. I don't know much about it, but I understand that urinary tract infections in people can have some pretty dramatic symptoms that seem totally unrelated to the urinary system; could be the same in horses and explain the shaking?

So glad she is still fighting and that you have had a bit of better news to set you up for the weekend. Fingers still crossed hard over the next couple of days - and thanks for letting us know you won't be able to post, I would have been so worried not hearing from you otherwise!

Hope you have as good a weekend as you can under the circumstances and that Lucy continues to put up a good fight.

Hugs to you both xx.

If she was shaking she may have been having a rigor, which is when temperature goes very high. It happens in humans so it may also do the same to horses. I'm glad she is treatable (am not sure if that is a word). In humans we keep them well hydrated and not too hot to try to bring thei temp down. The anibiotics may take 24 hours to kick in lol xxx

*cuddles for both Laura and Lucy*

Glad to hear that you know what the problem is now and can deal with it directly. I'm sure it will clear up just fine, poor little Lucy does have some back luck! Bless her, good on her for munching through her food to keep up her strength. That pony's got a great fighting spirit. :)

Glad it doesn't look like it's liver or kidneys :D Hope antibiotics clear it up nice and quickly so you can be flying round a nice course of jumps soon :D
