The vet has been up and she has had fluids which perked her up abit. He said her wee was full of blood but when he dipped it it looked ok. He took a sample incase they want to send it off. He said i should watch her tonight and ring them in the morning with an update and if she is no better then they will come and take some bloods. They think it is her kidneys playing up and that she has some amyloid diposits in her bladder so hopefuly the fluids will flush her out.
He also gave her a painkiller. A morphine based one so that perked her right up and she even ate some happyhoof and boild barley. :)
It's a reliefe to see her feeling abit better and atleast she wasn't dehydrated. But i have my fingers crossed her kidneys arn't packing up now :( thats the last thing she needs the poor little love.
I think i'm in for another sleepless night of worry. I just hope she's going to be ok. I hate seeing her so sad.

So glad that she is perking up a bit. Keep us posted. And dont for ONE second blame yourself she clearly enjoyed the sponsered ride and you do the very best you can by her, your a great mum

Thankyou I'll let you know how she is tom.

Ginger_Nut it's so hard not to blame the ride but the vet tonight kept saying this could have happened anyway. Bless him he was a new vet and he kept saying "you know this won't cure her right" She was so good and stood still for the drip even though there was a small child running round the yard, playing on a scooter and poking her every 5 seconds. Bless her.

Oh Laura, sorry to hear that Lucy is poorly - I missed your earlier post. Good that she has perked up a bit.

I've got everything crossed too and am thinking of you both this evening. Keep us posted x.

I always read your posts but haven't replied until now (sorry, am a lazy old bag!).

Just wanted to say you shouldn't beat yourself up at all, you always do more than your best for Lucy and Herbie? and they are very lucky to have you.

Fingers crossed that Lucy feels better tomorrow. She's a really lovely pony and she obviously thrives on the care that you give her. It's horrible looking after a sick pony/cat/dog - you can't eat, sleep, think. I know where you are coming from.

Best of luck to you and Lucy!

Thankyou everyone. I've just hand grazed her for 30 mins and given her some more feed. She had another wee and it was full of blood. She hasn't done a poo all day either. The vet said he was shore she wasn't colicing but i'm not convinced. I'll keep a very close eye on her tonight and see how she is tom. Nothing else i can do realy i suppose (except worry which i am getting very good at).

Lots of love to little Lucy! I'm sending her lots of happy horsie vibes. Lots of hugs for you too, Laura. I'm about to bake brownies so should I post you some?

I'm sure that Lucy will be OK, she couldn't be in better hands. I'm thinking about writing a will and saying "I want my pets to go to Laura Wheeler"!! :D You work so hard to take care of your ponies and I just know that they love you for it.

oh Laura, Poor you and poor Lucy.
As hard as it is, try not to worry tonight, lack of sleep/full of worrying does no good for you and therefore no good for Lucy. She knows you care about her, so you have to stay positive and brave.
Glad Lucy is eating a bit more now, with eating comes pooing too! We are all here for you.
Hugs.

Thankyou all.

Ginger_Nut I hope she does i hate seeing her like this.

HollyWoozle LOL if Lucy keeps this up you'll be looking after my animals as i'll have heart failer soon. Yes please on the brownies i think choc maybe what the doctor orders.

Ruthnmeg i hope she poos soon then i will be able to relax a little s i will know she isn't colicing as well.

Well said Holly :)

You are a FAB pony mum, Lucy knows it, and she loves you so much! *hugs* for you and sugar-free polos for Lucy :) xxx

Aw no, i missed the post about your ride and Lucy not feeling well *off for a catch up*, so sorry to hear she's having a rough patch. But glad she isn't colicky at least, and you sound to be doing everyting you can and more for her, as always. Keeping everything crossed that she picks up soon, and will try to keep an eye out for more updates. Hope you get some sleep and wake up to her looking perky. x
