What a wonderful story and i am so sad it ended too soon.It sounds as if the bond you had with Lucy is similar to the one i had with Ricky (Tricks). It took a long time for me to gain his trust but I persevered.
He became a one persons horse. Mine. Just as Lucy became yours.
You will probably never have this sort of bond again. It really is something to be cherished.
So glad to have re-read this story. Laura - Lucy was one very lucky pony. So sad for you now but you made the right decision. The apir of you seemed to have so much love and respect for another and had amazing fun. Happy hunting Lucy PS look out for my old boys and give em a nuzzle. Can't see the keyboard now!
What a wonderful and inspiring story Laura, thank you for sharing it with us. Would you consider sharing more tales of your lovely pony and the jouney you went on with Lucy? You sound as if you had a truly genuine bond with her.
Thank you Laura, that was such a pleasure to read and it made me cry - it's not even 7 in the morning yet!! I'm gonna go give my boy a big hug cos you made me realise how special our horses are xxxx big hugs to Lucy ((((hugs))))
Thankyou Tallyho. But I wish i could give her a great big hug.
Give your horse a big hug from me. The time you spend with them is so precious don't wast a single second.
Oh Laura, what a wonderful story, I cried so hard particularly as the way you told it reminded me a bit of my old boy Benji, you an amazing girl... the horsey world needs more people like you in it
Thankyou Benji1 What you did with your Benji was amazing. You never gave up on him like i never gave up on Lucy, even with everyone laughing in our faces. But what horses they turned out to be. Faithful till the end. Just goes to show what a little love and patents can do. We where both young when we took them on and when i took Lucy on I had only been riding for 1-2 years.
Thought this might help you, it was something I wrote when Benji passed away.
Beautiful horse, so gentle and kind
even though humans had hurt your mind
never one for giving up
you proved a fighter til the very end
I'd never change the times we shared
engraved forever in my memory
you leant me wings and taught me to fly
run free beautiful horse, through a peaceful sky
I wrote alot when I had Benji, and still write about him now.
Thats lovely thankyou for sharing. I eventualy managed to write Lucy a poem and put it in a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpYTwRdNv00
Not shore if you've seen it. It's on her memorial page on FB to. You may have seen it there.
Sorry.
I normaly find it quite easy to write poems and storys but it took me ages to write that poem. I keep toying with the idea of writing the full version of Lucys story but i just can't seem to find the words. There is so much more than is written on this thread.
Thanks maybe one day i'll get it all down. I just want it to be perfect. Just like evry moment i spent with her. There is so much that happened I don't want people to get bored of it going on and on.
What a moving and heart warming story. I have not read many threads or been a member for long on here properly (mainly a lurker) so just read the whole story. What a team and what a lucky girl. You are amazing!
The story had some funny bits in it, but it is also very upsetting, not only how people treat horses, but what you 2 did for each other. I can relate to a lot of your story myself so it also brings it home a lot and has made me even more sad.Bless both of you
Thankyou we've had some amazing times and some very low times but we got through it all together and i think that is what gave us such an amazing bond.
Thankyou bay_beasty. She never gave up on me either there where times when she probably should have. But she was always there for me encouraging me to keep going.
