Lump found please read.

How is he in his self?

sounds like an abcess of some sort to me, but could easily just be a swollen gland?
def keep an eye on it / can you not send the video to the vet if he won't come out?

it might be an absess? i found a lump like that in the same place on my mare, it was a cut that got infected but hers was more tender to touch, was given antibiotics and it cleared up....if hes not in any pain i wouldnt worry at this point, it might just be an allergic reaction to something, ive seen that area covered in lumps before on my friends horse. just keep an eye on him/her to make sure hes drinking and eating normally. if its going to cost alot for a weekend call out charge, i woulkd just wait till monday, or atleast ring the vet for some over the phone advice, they might be able to tell you whether its worth them coming out so soon. but i wouldnt keep prodding or poking it.

He is eating normally but does not drink very much. I hope it is swollen gland or an abscess it does not feel pussy feels rather firm but I did not want to squeeze it to hard.

Even if it were to be a melanoma, this is not automatically the worst thing ever. Mine has several, and vet is content to leave them be as they are not affecting her quality of life.

I agree though that this looks more like a gland. Have you checked in case there is a cut/foreign body imbedded under the jaw area? This happened to mine and she had a nasty swelling for a couple of days until the infection cleared.

Best wishes to you and your horse. Get the vet out during normal callout hours and try not to panic in the meantime. Let us know how things go.

Ill get the vet out on monday as he is the one that does his teeth. I think it may be to due with his grass gland. As I have upped his hard food to three times a day as he was looking a little thin when he returned from boot camp. Will keep him in tomorrow cut down the hard food to see if that helps.
No I have not taken his temperature.
