Lump on head - any ideas?

S has a lump on his head/neck on his left hand side just behind where the headpiece of a bridle would go...

Fits in my palm so fairly big. Quite firm, not very squishy.

We think he did it when he pulled back from the lorry and pulled something?

He doesn't seem to bothered by it if you touch it or anything.

Someone has said they think his eye on that side is changing colour?

What might it be?

He is going to Bell Equine on Wednesday to get it checked but am just wondering what they may say?

How long has it been there? Has it grown in size? Is the hair growth on it normal?

Doesn't seem to have got any bigger or smaller, hair is all normal on it. Its just like he's thwacked it and its swollen up but not gone down.

Bout 1-2 weeks? We've kept an eye on it and were thinking it was where he'd hit it and it had swollen but its still there!

Just sounds like a very bad bruising and haemotoma.

My horse has something similar. She hit her head off the top of the stable door. Got a cracking great big hard lump in between the ears under the top of the forlock. Doesn't bother her to touch and has not changed in size. She has had it for at least 3 months now. Got the vet out who didn't really know. Prescribed antibiotics which didn't make a difference and we have now left well alone as she is none the wiser that it is there.

I'll be interested to hear what your vet says

maybe be a heamatoma the vet my lance and drain it hope all goes well at vets tho!
