Hi guys

My horse has a lump on his hind heel that he has had for about 3/4 days now. Its hard, wam but not hot. hes not lame (fingers crossed he wont become lame! ). He is living out at the moment and his feet are very wet but he will be coming in at nights from tomorrow. Also he is unshod behind.

Its not an abcess or infection as it would have got hot and he would be uncomfortable on it.
Theres no entry point or cut.

Unfortunatley i dont have a picture but to try and describe it, if you pick up his foot you can see the lump where the heel bulb meets the hoof wall. The normal heel bulb just looks fat.

Does any one know what this could be? Someone said it could be a melanoma as he is grey but it got soo big so quickly i cant think it would be that.
Or someone said it could be a condition beginning with g but they couldnt remember what it was called...

Does anyone have any ideas as i dont want to do anything to make it worse but it doesnt seem to be bothering him?

Thanks
