Hey guys, a quick question. My partner and I discovered a lump in our horse's chin groove which is symmetrical and runs from one side of his jaw to the other. It seems to have appeared rather suddenly and is firm to the touch, but it doesn't seem to be causing him any bother.

A few people have suggested that it could be 'grass glands', but I'm not so sure as he's in a small field which doesn't have much in the way of grass. Could you take a look at the picture and let me know if you've ever seen anything similar before?

Could it be a bite, insect or otherwise?

Grass glands are a swelling of the parotid or salivary glands that run from below the ear around the back of the cheek.
