Anyone any idea what this could be? My id has got a soft, squidgey lump the size of a 50p piece on his near foreleg, on the outside of his knee. Doesn't seem to bother him, no heat and had it about 10 days now. Not an insect bite. He suffers from osteo arthritis so tends to get stiff at times. Plays rather rough with my tb in the field, thought at first it may be a knock. Now wondering if it's joint fluid that's leaked?

Will get the vet out this week just to check it over, but thought I'd post to see if anyone had any opinions or advice! :)

Posted in here as never seem to get many replies in veterinary!

Probably a wingal... They are mostly superficial and just a sign of wear and tear but if he is lame with it I would get vet out. It is pretty common but make sure it doesn't change of start to cause him discomfort.
:D

Never heard of one of those, thankyou! Will have a read up!

Just thought are they like windgalls?

Haha! yes I totally had a dumb moment.. I was meant to write windgall!!
*facepalm*

Pretty sure your boy is fine but if he is lame or if your worried then ring vet.
Also with a windgall you are meant to be able to press it and for it to be soft and to return back to normal shape. :)

I think it is an inflamed joint capsule, related to his arthritis, similar to windgall in appearance but on knee not fetlock. It could be that he has just had a bit of a knock and it may settle again, they often come and go just like windgalls do.

Lol! Yeah it sounds like a windgall, never had any experience of them tbh! Thanks for the advice. Will get vet out as thinking about changing joint sup anyway to the newmarket one and need him to order for me! :)
