Hi,
I have brought my horse in from the field this afternoon and he is turned out in boots but he now has a small gobstopper sized lump just below his knee on the outside of his nearside fore.

There is no heat at all there and when I popped him into trot on the lunge he is sound.

Any ideas what this could be? I guess I may need to wait for the morning to see if there is any heat and swelling then but there was nothing this evening.

Thanks,

Hannah

It sounds like a splint to me, some times they dont cause lameness, or swell, they just appear, proberly from a kick/or do you jump?

He fractured his split bone in June (hind offside so not same leg!!) so I have been bringing him into work and just been jumping him again over the last couple of weeks. He hasnt been out for a few days and was hooling it round the field a bit this afternoon so perhaps he could of done something then? ....the lump is just in front of where the splint bone is I think.....do you need to do anything about it?
