Noticed today that my mare has got a hard/solid lump around 15cm diameter on the point of her buttock. She does have a typical double muscle TB bottom, but it's must noticeably larger on one side and has come up rather suddenly, it doesn't look or feel like muscle and there is nothing for me to think she is working in a way that would result in onesided muscle development. She is not lame, and doesn't mind me touching/prodding it, it isn't hot. She is turned out alone so hasn't been kicked or anything. She did have a rather exuberant bucking/leaping session 2 days ago. Realy puzzled as to what it is, shall monitor it over the next few days and get in touch with vet if it doesn't go down. Anyone any ideas?
