hi, my pony bobby has had a lump on his face (pictured) for a few weeks now, at first thought it was a fly bite or something and my friends mum (who breeds connemaras and is very knowledgeable) also thought it was a fly bite and said it would go down in a week or so. however it hasn’t gone down and i’m not sure what it is. it is uncomfortable for him to touch. he is only a yearling so hasn’t ever gotten his teeth done yet.

He maybe has got a thorn in it, either through the mouth while eating or in through the outside of his cheek and it has gone into an abscess.
I think I would get the vet to see it as it has been going on a while. It might need lancing and/or antibiotics

My horse had a very similar lump in the same place. The vet came and sedated him and drained it. That was the end of it thankfully. it was some kind of abscess, not related to his teeth.

Please do come update if you find out what it is, I was just about to make a pretty much identical post as I've just been to the field to find the retired on has a lump exactly like that in the same place, though he isnt bothered at all by it and it isn't hot to touch.

hi just to update, was away for two nights with my family and we had a friend look after the horses, and got a text this morning that the lump had burst and was bleeding. when i got home there was a little puncture in the lump which was bleeding and the lump had gotten smaller. cleaned it and getting the vet out tomorrow.
