Hi all

A lump has appeared on the side of the neck of my 17 year old gelding. It is nearly at the bottom of the neck near the line. There is no sign of a bite and the lump is under the skin. There is a little bit of heat and the lump is hard.

Could this be a gland, or possibly a tumour?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

It may be a neck abcess or possibly a bite from another horse. My mare suffered two neck abcesses that presented as a lump, one was drained and the other burst itself.

Try a warm compress for a couple of days and then see a vet if you are worried.
