Lump on side

Hi all,

My new yearling Delilah has developed a lump on her side, just in front of the stifle - I think that it is either a fly bite or my pony has kicked or bitten her. I've got a call in to the vet and have sent the picture below. I noticed it Wednesday evening and it has got a little bigger since then. She will let me touch it although was a bit 'tail swishy' this morning, and it feels a bit warm. It also feels a bit harder than it did when it first came up.

While I was waiting for the vet to come back to me, I just wondered if anyone had seen similar and what it turned out to be.

i had one with a horse fly bite that looked like this. On the basis it’s not on a bone or joint, i’d monitor for now.

Maybe a horse fly bite has become infected and has developed into an abscess?

Can you find any punctures on it at all. It could be an abscess from an insect bite or thorn

Thanks all. I spoke to the vet yesterday. There are no scabs or marks on it so we think it is probably a haematoma. It hasn't got any bigger which is good!
