My pony developed what I can only describe as a large ridge hanging about 3 inches below his stomach which was very hard and tender when i touched it. The 1st vet said it was an adema and gave him a jab and I gave him 4 days of antibiotics, then she came back to do a blood test which came back that his liver and kidneys were fine and she tested his heart and no probs, then I noticed he was swollen around the sheath area and was finding it hard to walk in a straight line he looked like he was on drugs, so the vet came back and gave him an injection to help him pass water. Then 2 days later I was taking his rug of and thought he had been shot there was blood and pus all down his legs. The vet came out and said it was a very bad infection he was sedated while the vet cleaned him and he had a hole the size of an orange in his sheath. I have been bathing it everyday with hibiscrubb and he has been on antibiotics since 4th march and it still oozing big lumps of fleshy tissue but the swelling on stomach has gone down just wondered has anyone else has had this experience and what it turned out to be. When you look up on net it scares me to death what it could be and as we live in the highlands the midgies will be coming
