I have a 7 yr old coloured cob,who has developed a lump under his front legs.The lumo is not very big but it can just about be seen.Its a bit crusty on top.It usnt bothering him,not even when I squished it,but nothing came out.Hes had it about 9 days now and I havent noticed any change.Does anyone know what this lump could be?

Best way to explain is ,its between his front legs,if you look directly at him you can just about see it.It hasnt grown but I am keeping an eye on it. Was wondering if its a type of Sarcoid? Or something else.
 
It could be a fly bite that has got infected clean it up with diluted hi bi scrub a nd warm water then apply aloe vera do that that for a couple of days to see f it sorts it!
 
I squeesed it and nothing came out,it reminds me of a mares nipple lol but has a slightly crusted layer.I have bathed it with salt water.I'll get some hi scrub and aloe vera and try that.Thanks for the help.
 
Keep an eye on it but leave it alone. My filly had a sarcoid in the same place which was a small crusty lump, now has about 12 and is being treated by the vet. Hope it's nothing sinister.
 
I'd keep a careful eye on it hun. Is there a possibility that your ned might have pranged himself into a bramble bush somewhere? Could be a thorn or something stuck in his skin in which case his own body will probably gradually force it out. At 7 I would have thought that your ned was a bit young for sarcoids to start appearing but sarcoids don't always respect age. Try to just keep it clean but I wouldn't try to squeeze it any more in case you end up pushing infected material deeper into the skin - you could end up making it worse. Just in case it IS a sarcoid, DON'T DON'T DON'T put anything on it like tea tree/aloe vera gel as these products can encourage sarcoids (a skin cancer) to become more aggressive. I'd stick to gentle cleaning with plain boiled and cooled water: if it's still oozing, something like veterinary wound gel to keep the flies off it (flies can spread sarcoids).

Hopefully it will turn out to be just one of those things but if it doesn't show signs of starting to heal in a few more days or a week, I'd have the vets out.
 
Thanks for that.Ive NEVERr seen it oozing,or any discharge at all. I really dont know.He does rub on branches. I am going to take a photo and post it,so you can see. I just hope its not something serious!! If you look around the lump,theres a flat oval shape t?????? The lump sticks out.

Pictures - from all angles - would be useful. But with what sounds like a small area of contusion around the lump, I would suggest you have a good look at him when he's lying down (not flat out.) Some horses do tuck their front feet up under them in such a way that they can give themselves a pressure sore - which would have a little bruising around it.
