I noticed last night that my yearling has a lump under his skin under his jawline (think jawline is the place - the groove on the underside of his head more towards his mouth than his neck). It feels like a ball but about the size of a pound coin. It is not attached to anything and you can pinch it/move it around without yearling having a care in the world. Farrier was out last night and he had a look (he is very in the know with everything!) and he said he thinks its just a cist and to keep an eye on it.

I have the vet next month anyway for jabs so until then will just watch it very very closly.

Does anyone have any suggestions? He does have wolf teeth that need to come out and some sharp edges but dentist was not bothered about taking those out just yet when she looked at him a couple of months ago.

Wouldn't worry to much, as you said keep an eye untill the vet is due and then ask him to take a look. As long and your yearling isn't bothered by it i would wait untill the vet visits
