When i take the saddle off after riding my horse has lumps along his spine, they don't seem to bother him and then go down within about 10 mins. I've had 3 seperate saddlers check my saddles and all say they fit really well but i am still concerned. I have tried using a mattes sheepskin numnah to add lift but not change the width but it didn't make any difference. Does anyone else's horse get these or anyone know why he gets them? I have mentioned it to the vet who said its just where he gets hot, but he doesn't seem hot, they even appear if we just hack in walk!

He has 2 saddles and gets them more with the dressage saddle than the jump.

This can be caused by a weakened blood vessel - is it located where the gullet would be? It doesn't mean that your saddle doesn't fit, it's just the easiest place for the fluid to escape to rather than under the panels.

Hi r.e.d

What does a weakened blood vessel mean (why does that happen & will it stay like it)? It is along the gullet, but the gullet on both saddles are definitely wide enough for him.

Thanks!

Mine gets these too but I thought they were pressure points and I am getting the saddle fitter out soon and not riding in it for now.
Weird that they happen even with a fitted saddle though, am worried now :l

They are often just a reaction to heat and nothing to worry about .
Sometimes they appear IME when the flocking in the saddle is becoming a little soft H was getting two lumps after longer hacks so I had the middle part of his saddle reflocked ( it felt a little soft ) and that stopped the issue .
