HI there,
I have just bought a horse who is 16yrs old. She has a few grey horse lumps but several under her tail, would like to know if these would affect her going to stud? She is a maiden mare I think, also is there any way to tell of this? And is 16 to old for a 1st time mare?

Hi,

I think that I would be having the Vet to check her out, internally as well as externally and they would give you an opinion as to whether it would be OK to put her in foal, and, presumably, if she was a maiden.

My grey mare has a number of melanomas that the vets check routinely at vaccination she had a foal in July and caused her no problems at all.
But get the vet to check her out just in case when they come to do the swabs and keep an eye on any changes

thanks ill let you know what the vet says
