2 of the geldings at our yard have developed lumps absolutely all over them, one has been unrideable for a month with them, the vet has been out a few times and done biopsies and he's had treatment (antibiotics and steroids I think) and the results came back inconclusive, and they said they were fly bites?! But they are still there, and only slightly reduced. Today another horse came in covered in very similar lumps, with absolutely loads on his belly! It seemed really unusual to us that horses that had never had this before should have such a severe reaction! Any suggestions on what else this could be? Course of action? The horses are in contact with each other and others, fly rugs and fly spray, garlic etc have made no difference

our yard has a phase where a few horses got these lumps, think we had 5 of them including Pickle, but they were all from different fields! Hibiscrubbing seemed to get rid of them within a week

oh no not more, god knows whats going on with these horses, mines been suffering now since last October, he gets more when he eats fresh grass, there must be somthing growing in it that they are reacting to, wonder if its anythign to do with the weather conditions, he cant eat hay either

Its definatly new grass with mine, have tried putting him on paddock that has been cut down to 2 inches and this still didnt help have moved him back on to paddock that has already been grazed and the lumps have nearly gone.
Could be the same in your case, worth a try. Also he reacted to hay so if your feedign that as well, it could be that.
Let me know how you get on.

luckily mine hasn't come up in lumps yet, but his field companion has. So far only 2 of the 16 or so horses have gone all lumpy, and they have different feeds, different fields and there was about a 6 week gap between them developing. I've never seen anything like it before!
