Hi all,
My 7yr old Irish Sport horse gelding Bobby has quite a lot of small lumps on his back under his hair and I am trying to find out what they are. They are hard to the touch and not insect bites, I have had him for a year now but he did not have them before I got him. They are not causing him any discomfort and don't have heads and aren't scabby, the vet has checked them and just said to keep an eye on them. He doesn't think they are sarcoids. Some people have suggested it is from blocked pores or sweat, opinions on that?? He is a hot horse and does get sweaty easily but I alwa sponge or brish him off afterwards. They have stayed the same for a year and Havnt changed. Does anyone know what they could be or have had the same experience with their horse? Any advice is hugely appreciated!
Thanks x

could be an allergy of some sort, has your vet suggested doing an allergy test?

also have you tried washing your numnah/saddlecloth in a different mild solution? and have you tried using a different saddlecloth/numnah - sometimes wool can be a lot better for the skin than cotton ones (especially if they're very sensitive skin)?

My horse has something similar - they don't bother him, are small without heads. Vet suggested they may be bacterial dermatitis and I have been shampooing them with Malaseb, which has made absolutely no difference! Will ask him about collagen granuloma.
