This is a hard one to describe but one of ours has developed random indentations in her quarter muscles on both sides of her flanks. We've not had her long and are having issues about her lethargy when jumping.

I've shown these to my vet, physio and trainer and no one can suggest why they are there. We've had bloods done and there's no evidence of tying up.

If anyone has come across this before I'd welcome your thoughts as any change worries me. Thanks

Cushings disease and Equine Metabolic Syndrome can make the hindquarters appear 'lumpy'. Large, fatty lumps though, so your vet would probably have said if they suspected these conditions.

Anything like this?

Noone knows what these are either - an allergy is the best guess we've got as they appear quickly at the start of summer and vanish over winter.

Has your daughters pony have the lumps where there is pink skin? Please Pm me if you do.....I havent got to grips with saving topics yet, and I wont be able to find this one again!!!

Beware!! My pony developed these lumpy quarters, which I took to be fat deposits - closely followed by laminitis. He was diagnosed only yesterday and we start the long road to recovery. The photos above look very similar to what he has.

First time he's ever been laminitic in his 16 years - I can only put it down to the mad summers we've had.
