Lunge before loading?

I have a horse I quite like to lunge before getting on but the place I'm heading to doesn't have an area to do so before I ride.
The drive is 20mins from yard, does anyone lunge before loading and heading to destination? Is it a good idea?

Yes, no reason why its a bad idea? Ive often lunged in the morning prior to going somewhere if I feel the edge needs to be taken off
