What do you favour for lunging - lunge cavesson or bridle, and why?
If you use a bridle how do you prefer to attach the lunge line and why again?
Just interested following discussion with friend yesterday...

i was tought to lunge with a cavesson but now i lunge in a bridle as i have more contoll over my agumentative mare who likes to throw megga tantrums on the lunge and is much better in a loose passoa with a bridle. i also normally lunge with the line over the poll but thats on my stroppy mare i wouldnt do with on a horse that was calm on the lunge.

I lunge with a bridle without noseband or reins then I put a cavesson on top. I always lunge off the cavesson as I hate lunging from the bit. However, soemtimes I loop the lunge line through the bit back to the D ring of saddle or roller to help encourage the bend and the horse is being a pain.

Even more variations on a theme going on here!
I was also told you should use a cavesson but have since seen far more people using a bridle. I don't often lunge myself as I've never felt very sure how to get the horse working correctly rather than just going round in circles, but I am determined to practice!

Have to say i always lunge with a bridle, I either put the lunge line through the near bit ring and clip it on the outside one, or if George is a bit fresh over his poll. If I want to encourage some bend I clip it to the outside D-ring of the saddle and then through the 2 bit rings.
