Hi
I wondered if anyone could give me some advice. I want to book a lunge lesson to try and sort out some of my many positional faults (heels coming up, toes poking out, uneven hands, looking down, the list goes on and on). I currently ride at Talland with an AI (not been having current one long) but I don't know any of the more senior instructors.

A lunge lesson with an AI would be £37, with an II £43 and £49 with the more senior instructors.

Do you think it would be worth splashing out a bit more because a more senior instructor might a) be able to identify the causes of my problems more easily and/or b) have more experience giving lunge lessons so be a bit better at it??

Opinions??

Thanks :-)

I would probably splash out a bit more and go for a Senior Instructor. You will get more for you money and really enjoy it

If you haven't had a lunge lesson for a while I'd got for an initial one with the AI to get you used to the 'pressure' of that type of lesson on your body and position.

Then I'd book a 2nd lunge lesson with the senior instructor to get more benefit as your body will tolerate the lunge lesson better the 2nd time.

I have never had a lunge lesson!!

My instructors do seem quite keen on work without stirrups though. A couple of weeks ago I did about 40 mins without stirrups, most of which was in trot (ok, so it was a nice comfy horse but still). I don't know if that is comparable to the pressures of being on the lunge?

if you are used to that level of working without stirrups then go straight for the senior instructor

lots of people don't do that much at schools any more becuse of the insurance risk
