Just interested to see who still has them. I had my second lesson with my new instructor last night and he took away my reins and stirrups and put me on the lunge. I had forgotten what hard work it is but in just 30 mins did wonders for my seat. I think its been about 13 years since I last had a lunge lesson.

(and apparently I'm doing saddle-less on my Sunday lesson!)

OMG when I made a post about riding without reins and stirrups I was told it was dangerous and no longer done!! Good job I took no notice! LOL

LOL, if we went along that road we'd no longer ride as its dangerous

I have warned my instructor that I will probably fall off on Sunday, nearly fell off last night but hurrah for breastplates!

I think these lessons should be back on compulsory schedule at all riding schools and implemented at all levels. I put as many people on the lunge as I manage to convince and that is quite a few

Bareback riding - still doing it at a couple of places, one only allows it for staff training (so I took their saddles away pronto on Wed

Personally, I jump into occasion to have one whenever possible!

I've not had one for years

but my cousin still has one every so often with her instructor, think they are really worth while

I haven't had one since i had a riding assesment for BHS stages many years ago, I should have one but my horse is too much on the lunge 1 min an angel the next a psycho launches, rears and bucks - staying on that with no reins and stirrups I think not

I have never had a lunge lesson on my horse, I always mean to but there always seems to be something else I need to work on.

However I have ridden him with no reins or stirrups but not in a lesson. I only walked and trotted
