Hi all,

I was planning on getting a lunge roller for my new horse and was just wondering what people think of the different brands. Are the cheaper ones (eg cottage craft etc) as good as the more expensive ones or do they rub/slip?

I will mostly be using it for long reining rather than lunging but anyone's experience with different makes/brands would be greatly appreciated!

I just use a synthetic webbing type lunge roller, i got it from Libby's,it wasn't and expensive one, i've had it years and it's still going strong, doesn't seem to rub/move or slip, but i do use a saddlecloth and a fluffy half pad underneath it so it can press or dig in/rub etc. Very adjustable and fits lots of different shape horses!

Just a tip, make sure you can get the reins through the metal loops, I bought one (Mark Todd I think it is) to use with a Pessoa and can't get the metal clips through so had to resort to a Heath Robinson Invention using clips on the D rings to lunge with, also you need to be sure the long reins can slide through without getting stuck as it could be tricky. Hope this helps.
