Lunge whips - are they all equal?

I hate my lunge whip. I can't say I've used a great variety of the things, at least not in recent years, so wondered if there are nicer ones available. Mine is just one of the coloured ones with nylon covering. It doesn't seem very well balanced and the lash is quite difficult to aim with any sort of subtlety.
Any suggestions?

I still have one that is really comfortable to hold and is longer than most of the ones I saw at the time so it encourages the horse to stay on a bigger circle. No idea what make it is though but it is possible to get ones that feel good. Can you borrow a few different ones from friends to see whay make you like?

I used to do young horse evaluations with a loose element. I got through loads of lunge whips trying to find the best ones!! There's definitely better and worse ones out there. Sadly I never found a maker's name on any of them!!!

I have (had) a fab Fleck extendable carbon one, really light, could make it really long.

But last night my horse stood on it and broke it. Going to be trying to fix it somehow! Not really sure how yet but will give it a go!

Absolutely not all lunge whips are created equal! It depends on how you like to hold them, how much reach you need, how much the horse needs - all sorts of things. Play about until you find one you like.

It's really hard to get a lunge whip that's not cheap and nasty .
The fleck ones are lovely but as said above lunge whips have a dangerous life and fleck whips are expensive .

I find it difficult to find lunge whips that are long and rigid enough; must be 2 metres minimum. The best whips I've ever had were bought years ago on a trip to Belgium (non-horsey job; just happened to pass a tack shop), and they are so fantastic that I bought all six that they had in stock. I'm on the last one now; I'd even consider going back to Belgium (shudder) just to replenish them.

I use a childs lunge whip, I find it far more easier to wield!

I dont think all lunge whips are equal but I dont see the occassional bit of lunging as creating a need for a very good one. if I lunged several times a week I would invest in a good one, My friend has an extendable one and its fab
