i love lunging my pony. i enjoy watching him move and he seems to enjoy it to and has a bit of a play, jumping and bucking letting off steam sometimes. and i like the fact it gets him listening to my voice, being a v fwd going chap under saddle. anyway, i know he'd been lunged a lot in the past with the full monty of equipment. i'd only been using his bridle as he gets strong in canter. so i bought a roller and side reins and used them today for the first time. he was fine once they were attached, knew what it was all about. apart from a small playful spook at an imaginary monster!!! usually in canter he will pull my arms out as the excitement builds, but today he was so light and easy. altho he was a bit strong on his hard rein, so that should get better in time. hooray! i think i've found a way to teach my pony that working isnt just about galloping all the time!
