Lunged new bucking horse

OM there is some very good advise on here, & there is nothing to add except that if you do record your conversation with the previous owner, your have to let her know that is what you are doing. It is not permissable to record a conversation without all parties being aware. Good luck

PS Only had it a week and had full 5* vetting which it passed with flying colours

Sorry, haven't read the whole thread so this may have been asked already....but if it had a 5* vetting, who rode it then, and it was presumably cantered for that also

I can't get my head around the fact that you're saying she was 5 stage vetted but not riden - that's impossible.

I think your case is with the vet now although you are going to find it hard if you weren't present.

Do not enter into verbal conversations with the seller - put everything in writing.

Stimpy, that is not correct - you can have a 5 stage vetting just with lunging although it's not the preferred option for obvious reasons.

Some vets aren't great for vettings (particularly if it's a small animal vet that just happens to do the odd horse) - it IS possible to get a certificate without speaking to the vet before or after - of course the vet shouldn't do this as it doesn't help them understand the 'fit for the purpose thing', but some vets will do this.

Oldmare - where are you based?

So if the horse was only lunged to check its lungs and heart etc. Did it buck during the vetting???

Not sure where Oldmare is today, it's all gone quiet, hope she's ok

My guess? The horse DID buck but the vet didn't bother mentioning it OR it was only a 3 stage vetting (or the vet is a mate of the owner

- not a deflamatory thing to say as I don't know the new or old owner, horse OR vet!). I have personal experience (many years ago) of a dodgey vet who definitely inappropriately passed a horse, it does happen...
