After our little 'Does she have ringbone or arthritis ?' scare our vet has given us the all clear to commence work as a diagnostic tool. I'm aiming for 3-4 days hacking and 2 lungeing a week, Jazz genuinely enjoys lungeing!

Previously I've only used a cavesson i.e no gadgets but am now keen to explore kit that'll help build up her lumbar muscles and lift her abs .

I hope this bit makes sense: I don't want to strap her down to force a shape , I'm looking for something that'll encourage her to develop the above muscles!

Please, any ideas? Is the Claire Lilley kit a good start? Maybe something else?

Thanks

Hmm, am sure you can get the seperate items without paying for a thorogood label, but a chambon is a easy and relaxed training aid, doesnt ask to much of a horse which is what it seems like you want, but asks enough!
You could get a de gogue which can be used when ridden , but as a chambon when you lunge, or a pessoa(or variation) which I think is the only training aid that really encourages them to work upwards from behind.
Altho you can always tie a bandage behind her ass to get it in gear!
Does this help a little?

ever thought of using a pessoa? derbyhouse and robinsons all now do their "own brand" version which is pretty much the same but less pricey. It really encoruages horses to use their stomach mucsles without strapping them in.it will also develop topline and encourage a forward movement.i highly recommend them.
I used the claire lilley chambon and to be honest if you have a horse that naturally stretches then it doesnt do much.If you have a horse that wont stretch then i suppose it is ok.
IMO the pessoa is great for stretching, strengthening and develping overall muscle conditon.
All thoughts are my own preference and opinion thou!!
