Lungeing in a pessoa but doing straight lines?

One of mine has just had time off with a Sacro Iliac problem. She's had a cortisone injection and now needs lungeing in a pessoa for a month.

Trouble is, I have no access to a school or suitable field.

So, wondering whether it would have the same effect if I were to lead her out in hand down the lanes?

I could possibly lunge her a bit on a bit of grass next to a bridle path that is off road, but really, all I have at my disposal is lanes and bridlepaths.
 
I don't think it would be a problem.
Could you ask the vet (or whoever advised the lunging) whether they think it would be ok? I'm sure there's others on here that know more than me though.
 
Sounds like you just need to long rein the horse in the pessoa.I cant see any problem with this providing you are fit enough yourself ,for all that walking.Plenty of High Viz ,so you are safe too.
 
I used to long rein regularly in a pessoa around our lanes. Does just the same job. And probably nicer for the horse to start off on straight lines before asking for bend on circles.

That's good news then.

Pony knows about long reining although since she spooked once in the field and took off (causing me to have to let go!) I haven't been that keen on it since!

Think I'll lead her in all the gear on the lanes then.

Unfortunately there's no one that can help, otherwise someone up the head end to keep her company while I'm at the rear would the best case scenario.

I'm not very fit, but will be after this!!!! ;-)


p.s - Yes will drown us both in hi-viz as she is bay and will blend into the country lane background! I've got a fluorescent yellow rug she can wear, plus leg bands, bridle band, tabard for me and bright yellow woolly bobble skull cap cover!

NO ONE will fail to see us! Unless they're not looking!!
