Lungeing

Is loose schooling as good as lungeing?

Loose schooling is much less controlled for me and my horse! I lunge him at least once a week doing transitions/yeilding in and out of a circle/polework/etc. I loose school about once a month over fences/grids to teach him technique and to assess from the floor what progress he is making in terms of balance and working out distances. I think both serve a purpose, it would depend on what you are trying to achieve.

I prefer lunging as loose schooling the horse rapidly turns into chaos and she can jump out of the arena if she wants to She is a madam tho

Only trying to get him fit. He hates being lunged but will loose school beautifully and will trot round until I allow him to stop
