Hi

I'm going to start lunging this weekend and I was wondering how best to get some extension on the lunge. Katie has a very 'high' trot, probably from her welshie genes, she's got a naturally nice head carriage and will be great at collected work. But how can I get her to stretch out on the lunge without just running. I'm quite new to lunging for anything other than just exercise and don't want to confuse the poor girly!! Any advice welcome.

Love Jules xx

I teach mine by starting at one end of the school on a 20m circle then I move with them down the long side saying s-t-retch then back onto a 20m cicle at the other end .They soon learn sometimes they break into canter especially as I start to run [that would frighten anyone] down the centre of the school but they soon learn and start to show off
