Lunging help

my pony has never been good to lunge and it took us months to get him to do it on the right rein without spinning round. but we got there.

however, the last two times ive tried, he will spin whenever i ask for canter on the right rein. if i keep the lunge whip behind him so he cant, then he will just kick out.

obviously i am thinking theres something wrong. our right rein is our weaker one anyway, always has been, and right canter especially is our weakest pace.

the vet is out on thursday for his jabs so i can talk to them then if people think its likely to be an injury of some sort

Yes this sounds like there could be a problem. Don't lunge him for now and book some time with the vet to for an examination.

If you get the all clear from your vet you could try lunging with two lines, this should help with the spinning.

If the vet gives the all clear I'd still get a good chiro/physio/osteopath in as not all vets are great at spotting postural problems.
