lunging question

How long are you supposed to have the lunge line? bearing in mind my pony is only 7hh!!! Also what do you think the maximum length of time i should be lunging him for? He's 5, a mini shetland and ive no doubt he hasn't seen any form of exercise since he was born!!!

Okay, now based on a 20m circle, which is theoretically what you're meant to lunge on (someone correct me if I'm wrong please). For Ty, I'd say go a little smaller, which i do with G. Start with walk, say 5 mins on each rein. If he gets silly and gallops round, just let hi get on with it until he settles. Build it up over the first week to a little trotting, until he can manage 5 or 10 minutes good trot on each rein.

LOL!!!! gallop, he doesnt even know what a trot is!!! He is quite calm TBH im quite impressed!!

cahill - He went to leahurst and they have said that it appears his bottom eyelid is too long

and it is folding inwards causing the irritation, thus tears. They injected his bottom eyelid with penecilin to push it back out temporarily to see whether this eased the tears..... it did not

He has to go back on the 21st to have a temporary stitch in both bottom eyelids to shorten them and push them back out. If this works he has to have both eyelids shortened in an operation

i always get the wierd ones!!!

Bless him, one of the foals at my yard had to have this done as she was born with her bottom eyelid turned inwards, she is fine now
