usually when I lunge pickle I either lunge him in just a bridle or with a saddle and bridle and side reins. Now I wasnt sure if it would be better to use a roller.

Also I was considering trying him in something like a pessoa, was wondering what is the normal reaction to one as he is quite a sensitive soul and is likely to find something like that scary.

Thanks

Jess

Using either a roller or saddle is fine

I must say I prefer using a roller when lunging though...

I'd use a chambon instead... Firstly because I prefer them more than Pessoas and secondly because most horses adjust to them fairly quickly

My horse built up loads of muscle really quickly in a pessoa, it was great. I found that he bucked for the first 10 mins of the 1st few sessions then was fine. But i would put leg straps on for the first few times so the back part doesn't come up over his tail and come off!!

Hate pessoas. I would use a bungee or chambon as they actually encourage the horse to work properly rather than create a false outline. As with any aid though, you ned to make sure that they are working properly from behind and not just going on the forehand.
