we are thinking of putting in a lunging/turnout pen, was wondering if anyone had any advice, ideas of surfaces, drainage etc, is not going to be anything amazing

just somewhere to chuck out away from mud and obviously lunge in, any advice appreciated, also ideas of cost

We have one with a silisand surface and its great, must admit we rarely lunge in it but it is great to turn out if weather is poor, the horses love having a good roll in it after exersise. Also use it for the laminitic companion we have, brill for her tootsies when she feels sore, touch wood hasn't had it for 4 years.

Hi, we have a 40x60 outdoor, we use that at the moment for turning out in as it gives them all a good chance to have a good buck and play plus dont have to worry about them slipping in the mud or wet.

We have a surface called comfy ride

Wood chip is quite cheap and is suitable all year round. Like the others have said try a small manege so you can use it for multiple things.
