I have just started lunging my mare after the winter. We also hack out a couple of times a week. She goes very well on the left rein, she trots and canters well. in an outline for a lot of the time, too!
she is less good on the right rein. I only make her trot for a few minutes without a break and she is reluctant to canter on that rein, but I encourage her, when she does it! If I carry on doing this, do you think she will improve on that rein and will she be more able to maintain an outline?
What is your usual routine, when lunging?

I'm not an expert, but i would do more work on the "bad" rein, maybe just 5 mins extra until the horse is going equally good on both reins. Seemingly, we all have a favourite rein, and horses get worked more on one rein because of that!! I prefer the left rein, so I lunge my horse for an extra few mins on the right rein, to counter act that. I'll jump on the left rein no probs, am always sh***ing it on the right rein. Would actually love to know the science behind it???
Hope you get sorted, dont know how much help i've been though!!
