Hi I have lunged before and usually do it in a headcollar but now I need a bit more control with my horse. Can you lunge a horse with a French Link Dutch Gag 3 Ring? Thank you,I just wanted to know before I did lunge.

So long as you just clip to the snaffle ring, it's like using a french link hanging cheek snaffle. So not severe unless you're strong on it as the person on the end of the lunge line.

I disagree with the above posters, I know it is a common practise but a horse's mouth is way too sensitive imo to be lunged off the bit unless the horse is an angel to lunge in which case you wouldn't need to lunge from a bit

Invest in a proper lunge cavesson and learn to use body language to help gain the control you need

Personally I'd never lunge in a headcollar. The headcollar tilts and can rub under the eye, causes distraction and irritation, even sores.
