I can't actually put into words how angry Lush have made me by supporting HSA, but that has just been made worse by an automated response essentially implying that I am stupid if I can't see that the sun shines out of HSA's arse.
I just wondered if we could organise people in the same area to protest outside stores? I think a whole group of people at one store would be more effective than one or two people outside a dozen stores in one area.
Thoughts?

Definately - I've writted a leaflet that I've sent to OofaDoofa - quite happy to send it out to people to print off as many as they require. PM your email addresses if you want it. Also, if you get it and want to tweak it, feel free!

NB - As much as it riles me up the wrong way just be carful as a friend of mine got into a wee spot of trouble with the rozzers (apologies to any of you on here!) for throwing eggs at the Kings Road store in London.

I walked past Lush in central Bristol today, and they had a shop worker outside wearing fox ears, plus a stall with a couple of members of 'Bristol Animal Rights Association' or something like that encouraging people to sign an animal cruelty petition!

I couldn't believe it, I just walked on as it would have made me really angry to have gone inside. Ironically though, one of the members of this Bristol animal rights club was wearing a camouflage jacket , couldn't have looked more like unapproachable or more like he needed a bath if he tried! If they're going to set up stalls outside Lush stores, perhaps they could practice what Lush preach and actually look presentable and clean. And the store was empty too.

still looking for some factual information (as opposed to the tripe generated buy Lush) on the HSA to pass to a friend, in order to scupper a little deal they have up their sleeves. Can anyone help?

Just a question.

How can you all own animals and claim to love them, but take a wild animal and essentially torture it for something you call sport?

I thought we were part of a modern society, and brutish sport had been laid aside.

Whilst you're out protesting against Lush, why not encourage the revival of gladiators and Roman entertainment. Lots of blood and pain, sounds right up your alley =)

snails. watch my lips.

this is not about hunting.

this is about a group which says it is ok to hit horses and hounds and children and try to kill people because you disagree with them.

those are the shortest words I can get it into.

FFS snail, get with the programme. This isn't about supporting fox hunting. I don't support fox hunting. It is about Lush supporting a violent organisation ie the HSA. Aaaargh!
To me it's a bit like when certain Americans were fundraising for the IRA.

well lets be honest:

they pick up your dogs by the nape of their neck, now if I am not mistaken (which I know I am not) that is how their mothers carry them as infants, and is actually the least harmful way of moving them. If in the scuffle they do get moved a little more intensely, you're not going to tell me, your animals trained to kill, wouldn't make it known they were hurt, oh you know, say biting as they are obviously trained to do.

As far as hitting humans. You all deserve to be hit if you think that hunting is acceptable, the violence shown at least has a purpose. The barbaric violence shown in hunting has no purpose other than to entertain those with no ethics or morals.

And as far as teaming up with a "violent" society, you probably all drive your land rovers or gas guzzling machines, buy fancy mobile phones, and live in large houses consuming plenty of electricity and emitting gasses like you would never believe leaving a carbon foot print the size of the uk, and you all seem fine about it. If we are going to get real about this, there is nothing less environmentally violent but you can't see it yet, so who cares?

Quite literally get off your high horses, and if you're really against the way it is being done, do something less violent that is going to make change and gather attention of whats really going on in the world of hunting, rather than sitting on this forum bitching.

The IRA killed 1800 people. It is grossly unfair to compare them to the HSA. As a relative of a victim of the Northern Ireland troubles I find the remark obscene and highly offensive.

as much as you think you know, unfortunately you know precious little of hunting! we are NOT from the glorious Shires or Southern counties, we are farmers with sheep and if you think we are going to just let these vermin kill our lambs in spring you are mistaken! it is NOT a sport as you so believe but a necessity to cull them, there will never be a shortage of the fox as they are prolific breeders and wily. say a nd think what you like but you will not detract from the fox numbers being properly managed, if its not, there will be carnage in spring.

Can I ask why the obvious anti's are arguing for against a practice that is already banned? I'm obviously missing something because hunting within the law (and as such making it far easier for people who need to control pests to do so through methods just as cruel btw) does not involved hurting 'cute little foxes' so why is that an issue for you?

If Lush had supported the League Against Cruel Sports or another none violent organisation there wouldn't be the uproar there is. THAT is the issue not the fact they're supporting an anti hunting charity! Even my very anti mother is appalled at their choice of 'charity'.

I'm sorry but how is being petulant and sarcastic answering a genuine question and making any kind of comment on what I said? I'm sure your trolling may be entertaining to yourself and even the people on here you're trying to wind up but you're not going to change people's minds by being rude, childish and stupid.

I'm in no way disputing the ban or arguing that point at all, I'm asking why you are when the point is not WHAT Lush is supporting but WHO they are supporting that has angered a lot of people?

I used my mother as an example of somebody I know who is very anti hunting but knows enough about BOTH sides of the debate to know the HSA are violent criminals. If you want to get people to support your cause and prevent the ban being over turned then injuring people and animals is not the way to do it....and I mean that in reference to both sides of the debate. I'm not naive so I'm not going to pretend that everyone is hunting within the law but I think it's even more naive to believe that supporting an organisation that is more interested in violence than actually changing the law is going to solve any of the issues anti hunt supporters have surrounding hunting.

more science crap- this is the real world here, not a place for studies to be made on populations etc. have you seen first hand what a fox does to a young lamb, doubt it, not a pretty sight!! its depressing to go out in the following morning to find yet another little half eaten body or no body at all. we're talking of generations of shepherds here, custodians of the countryside, so dont even bother telling me that hunting is ineffective- better to have a quick kill which with a hound it always is, than some idiot popping with a gun to only injure the poor thing( no, i hate seeing anything injured and/or suffering,)or worse putting poison down, just to decimate all other wild life too!

Yes, to hell with science - this is the real world where we deal in witch craft, folk tales and hysterical rumours!

Can't say I have. All the lambs I've ever had in my charge over the years I have taken full responsibility for their care and made sure they are adequately protected. In this instance I would suggest you keep your animals locked in a barn over night - not only will it protect them from such outrages such as a hungry fox trying to feed it's young, but also from such conditions as hypothermia. I would also suggest you do not leave your keys in the ignition and the doors unlocked if you do not want your car stolen.

I'm very interested in any proof you have that could implement the Hunt Saboteurs Association in criminality and/or violent acts.

That is a VERY old story. Weakly researched arguments, never peer reviewed, by a rabidly anti-hunting scientist financed by the anti-hunt lobby! As opposed to a study carried out by the Game Conservancy, properly peer reviewed etc. that showed very clearly that - in areas where other forms of fox control were restricted for various reasons (terrain, too many tourists or too much livestock for shooting to be safe, etc.), then hunting played an integral role in fox control.

And actually, I don't recall - when presenting the 'official' case for foxhunting - EVER claiming that the fox population would increase nationwide without hunting. There are always other methods - most of them LESS humane than hunting with hounds!

But as others have said, this thread is not about the arguments for and against foxhunting. It is about the public white-washing and support for a violent organisation!
