Lush can donate their money wherever they like, as far as I am concerned. Whilst I think it is disgusting they are donating thousands to the HSA (IT ACTUALLY SICKENS ME) I know that many companies donate £££ to causes that I would not agree with, its a fact of corporate life.

I take the following quotes from a leaflet I received from Lush themselves....

What I am sickened to read is the propaganda surrounding their decision to donate to the HSA - namely

"....Wealthy, land-owning families for centuries, they have decided to ignore the law and go ahead with their barbaric ritual...."

Which is opinion, untrue in most cases (most hunts do hunt within the law), and this is also wrong, many people follow hunts from all walk of life

but mostly

"Fox hunting is cruel to foxes, horses and hounds..."

Which really gets my back up, as

1. The Burns enquiry into hunting with hounds found "HUNTING TO BE NO MORE OR LESS CRUEL THAN ANY OTHER METHOD OF FOX DISPATCH (and it is a government requirement to control the fox population, ironically)

2. How DARE they imply horse owners who choose to hunt are cruel to their horses

3. See above re: Hounds.

Whatever your opinion on the fox hunting argument, be pro or against, surely anyone can see a multi million pound company throwing ignorant opinions around is dangerous, stupid, hysterical and downright detrimental to the entire horse owning community of this country - be they pro or anti hunters.

You can complain to Lush here

....Wealthy, land-owning families

This is the first time I have seen an anti hunting campaigner actually admit the real reason they object to hunting.

He can spend his money how he wishes in my view. Most people in the general population don't like / agree with hunting foxes and others have no interest in the fox but dislike people they perceive, feel they are above the law.

I shall not be complaining and will still enjoy the bath bombs

This is fine, you are entitled to your view, however do you agree with his marketing saying that people who hunt are cruel to horses?

What view does this give of the equestrian population as a whole?

The fact that Lush are now supporting an organisation that for all its high and mighty ideals about animal rights are prepared to harm not only people to get its views heard, but horses and hounds too; says much about their simplistic, twisted thinking.

fcuk 'em.

Well, I for one are happy with their decision to support the ban on fox hunting. As someone who doesn't support it, I think it's great - at last a make up company who is not hell bent on just making money.

I love this company - Do you know that pretty much EVERY bit make up or cosmetic or anything in the beauty field is tested on animals? Well, these don't so of course they will have animals rights and welfare in mind. I know you guy's all love your hunting and as a rider, I too would if the point of a hunt wasn't to chase a fox to it's death.

Give these guy's a break - Why not put your anger elsewhere where it really deserves it and stop buying products who DO test on animals, becuase all 'top' brands (and all the others underneath) do this. These are the companies who deserve your 'letters' and 'outrage'

I disagree russoheidi. The anti hunting/pro hunting thing is neither here nor there as far as i am concerned. Its the fact they ar eputting comments on their site which are misinformed and inaccurate. Also, the fact the HSA actually have been known to cause injury to animals is slightly hypocritical IMHO!?!

My point is that their propaganda alongside this product clearly states that

"hunting is cruel to horses and hounds"

So its fine to say that all people that hunt are cruel to horses? Is that what you are saying? That is, after all, my point - that there marketing is detrimental to the horse riding community?

Russoheidi, it's not because they are anti for most of us. Well it certainly isn't for me anyway. I have no problem with "anti's" as long as they act within the law and are as polite to me as I am to them. It's the fact they are supporting the Hunt Sabs, people who have been seen to whip horses and hounds, drag people from the saddle, spit in peoples faces. This is not the way to campaign. Esp when the majority of hunts are now in effect "Hunting a sock!"

never bought from them anyway but now I won't even window shop..... although *brain starts ticking* I could go in and mess up their displays and put my mucky paw prints all over their soap bars *evil laughs*

only kidding

its not the fact that they are anti hunt everyone is entitled to their opinion its that they are donating money to the HSA who are a bunch of terrorists in my opinion. terrorising horses, hounds and people. Have a look at some of the other posts about it on here and see some links to stories about the HSA and the barbaric activity they get up to.... fireworks in horses faces, rocks being thrown, barbed wire need i say more

There are many reasons why I dislike Lush, this is just one of them...

The main reason I dislike LUSH is that their products and shop STINK to high heaven. Yuck. I won't even walk past their shop in town, you can smell it a mile off and the one time I did go in, it made me feel so light headed I had to sit down afterwards. All natural my ar£e. Nothing natural smells that bad!

Which reminds me...Beth, you make soaps don't you? Do you sell them? Was going to FB you to ask about Xmas pressies!

Really? I've never been on a hunt where a fox has been chased to it's death! Actually i've never even been out when a fox has been caught!

But i have been out when these so called 'animal rights activists' have spat at me and thrown things at our horses!

Being anti or pro has little to do with this thread. The OP is annoyed at the claims that hunting is cruel to the horses and hounds. I don't hunt, but I do ride my horse about the countryside in a manner similar to hunting. I also take part in cross country and fun rides. Does this make me cruel to my horse? Lets not forget hunting it banned and the vast majority of hunts are operating within the law. So really, this guy is having an attack on drag hunting - a perfectly harmless and legal activity. Antis that are agressively against drag hunting are really just demonstrating that their opinions are based more on social stigmas (hunting being perceived as an elitist sport) than animal welfare. When we know you get all sorts in the hunting field!!

Also - not sure where you get your info from, but testing cosmetics on animals has been banned in the UK for some time and any UK cosmetic product (LUSH or otherwise) will NOT be tested on animals. I also don't see why all this means that Lush are any hell bend on making money than any other company. Who's to say this isn't just yet another corporate publicity stunt?

I love Lush products but am really disappointed now. Appreciate they are entitled to their view on Hunting, but I definitely wouldn't want my money donated to the HSA.

I don't think it is very responsible of them to be making inaccurate overly emotional statements in support of an organisation capable of such extreme behaviour on website like theirs, which is no doubt used by loads of young people who will now think that it is acceptable!!...

OK and breath, rant over!!

A friend took her 4 year old daughter out on a hunt and the anti's actually man handled the child to the ground!
They don't give a damn about the animal.
oh, and find me an anti who has never popped a paracetomol or demands medicine when ill!

i have put a comment on there it is "awaiting moderation" so doubt it will be published...
anyway i have no problem with them supporting animal welfare charities but i seriously believe that hunt sabs are not a welfare charity they are nasty people hell bent on causing trouble and in the cases of pulling people from horses and spraying pepper spray on hounds and horses causing pain... this is not welfare....
i will now email lush with my opinion as i'm feelin like sharing my mind today...

At the end of the day, hunting with hounds is illegal, and people are still out there killing foxes. It must stop. The majority of people want it to stop, which is why it was banned in the first place. I respect Lush for having the guts to do this and I am not alone in that.
