I'm really interested to get a feel for what a Lusitano is like to ride and would therefore be keen to find out if there's anywhere (pref East Midlands) where you can book a schoolmaster lesson on a Lusitano. Contessa isn't too far away but the reviews on here have been quite mixed.

Any recommendations/suggestions appreciated, thanks.

I'm not sure if Sam still has any school masters - he'd sold them and was teaching people on their own horses last time I rode with him. That was a couple of years ago now though (time flies!), and things might have changed again, so it can't hurt to ask. He's a great instructor and really understands iberians.

You could try pen Llyn in north Wales, pakefield or pine lodge in east anglia, white horse farm in Kent or come to the SW and have a sit on mine or the 15 others we have on the yard!
There are also some “stunt/trick rider/film horse” places that have them but they won’t necessarily be dressage trained. Sam T doesn’t have schoolmasters any more.

I'd just book straight with Sylvia Loch if I were you. You won't regret it. Yes it's a trek but worth it.

Th truth is, there are very few schoolmasters around now - in the true sense. Mr P is also getting older so it's probably the very last few years to ride a true one where someone is so willing and passionate still to teach.
