So after abit of my own research and the vets words going through my head .

This is basically what Tikka is suffering from ....and hence not being able to go to the toilet . (nerves damaged along with alot of swelling caused by compression in the spine towards her tail)

Vet is still hopeful for the swelling to go down and hoping that this will ease the pain also and then in turn helping tikka to go to the toilet .

I have never felt so up and down as I have done the past 2 days . One minute I'm optimistic and the next I'm down again .

Had her out for a walk up into the field , she was circling again but nothing , So I had to do the "not the most pleasant thing" .... Got myself a latex glove and some vaseline and had a feel .

The fececes(sp?) is just sitting there , So ....Its unlikely then that she is "feeling" the urge ??

....The vet did say yesterday that there was no anal tone .

.

Shes eating and drinking fine .

Shes just not getting rid .

I need some sort of reassurance .....I keep telling myself its only the second day .
((((Poo and pee vibes))))

At least she's home. I'm sure the vet would have kept her if he thought there was more he could do there. Sounds as if it is going to be a time thing. If there is swelling then hopefully as it goes down she will improve. Does she not have to be evacuated manually if you know what I mean! You need some of the vet people on They seem to be very knowledgable about these things.
Still keeping everything crossed for her.

Just replied on your other thread re expressing. Don't fret too much about the poop thing, as she has lost anal tone it will slow things down a bit but things will still work, link to the website on your other post shows how to express the poop. The thing to watch out for is mega colon, because things have slowed down the poo stays in the large intestine longer where moisture can be absorbed making for hard poo. (sorry this is a bit graphic) Try and get some canned pumpkin and add it to the food, this will keep the poop softer and easier to get out, you may find till her anal tone returns it just 'falls' out, bit icky but if you regulate when you feed her you can suss out when it's going to happen. Hope this helps.
