LW Pellets - not as absorbant? Any other pellets better?

Hello

Are any of you noticing a difference with your LWP not absorbing as much? We called them and they advised that they had, had a problem but that it should be sorted now but the batch we have just had are still not as good as they were last year!

What other options are there for wood pellets?

Hello! I've just made the change over to wood pellets this winter and absolutely LOVE them. I did a lot of research on various companies, asked lots of questions, spoke to various different people using different brands before I took the plunge. I decided not to go with who you mentioned as I too had heard reports about poor absorbancy. I ordered a pallet load from Blue Ribbon and have to say I am over the moon with the product and the customer service you receive really is second to none. I hope you manage to sort out the problem. If you want any more info feel free to message me, as I'd hate to upset anyone on here by being pro blue ribbon!
 
Five Star pellets are very good. Unfortunately I don't think they are taking orders at the moment but when they are back up and running they are worth a try.
 
We changed to wood pellets about a month ago & have saved so much time in mucking out. One of our horses that was very messy is actually cleaner on pellets. We atre a small yard & various pellets have been tried, LWP, Verdo & Corley Bio. We all use Corley Bio now as they are very absorbant & they are very close to us so delivery isn;t a problem & also price seems good as well.
 
Ive used pellets for a number of years now, this is my fourth winter, ive used lwp, delivery contractors are dreadful, i then used corley for the last two winters - delivery excellent and pellets (brites brand) are great, absorb well and work well on mixture of messy/wet/dry horses, ive just had a load of five star from eden wood pellets(people who supplied five star) they are covering orders for the time being, fab delivery greAt pellets and the proffesional ones - cheaper five star branded are fine, slightly cheaper than corley by a few quid, bags are 15kgs rather than the 10kgs that corleys come in but seem to absorb as much and smell nice too! So far so good - to order the 5 star ones you need to look for eden fire wood, the 5star pellets are on their site
 
Just after reccomendations for woodpellets and thought I'd wake this thread up instead of starti ng a new one. I can see Blue ribbon and corley seem to come highly reccomended... do these make a light or dark bed? I understand verdos are quite dark?

Corley Bio-wood are very good. They start off light but will darken according to how long they are down/how wet you let them get . They will deliver quite a distance. When I was there the other day they were loading pallets to go to down south (can't remember if it was Essex or Surrey!)

They all go dark over time! It's the poo juice. I've used Corley for a number of years now as the ladies are lovely and the delivery drivers are excellent. The bed isn't a gorgeous cream expanse of loveliness but it's dry and firm. Some of my pellets are probably the original batch as the wee only gets removed once in a blue moon.

My yard in Essex get them from Corley, I used to be the only one but last year about 12 people switched over as hemcore and shavings skyrocketed.
 
We have had Blue Ribbon but now use their multi-purpose pellets as they are cheaper and seem to be even better. We phoned up to confirm suitability, although the web site does say that they are for bedding. Bed is a pale straw colour and very absorbent, much paler than verdo.
