LW turnouts - with or without neck?

What do you prefer? which would you recommend?

I usually prefer with a neck but most of my rugs are amigos so i can move the neck between rugs.

I prefer necks for keeping clean but my boy can't have them, tis uber annoying lol. If your horse can wear one without it rubbing out their mane, I definitely go for neck.

Detachable necks

That way he can go without on a reasonable day or I can put it on if it's really wet and muddy in the fields.

My personal preference is a high neck or no neck. My arab had a combo turnout and got barbed wire stuck underneath the rug. He shredded his neck to bits and now refuses to be turned out with a rug sull stop.

My other (draft) horse clearly did not like the combo rug I tried with him, but he doesn't mind a high neck.

I hate seeing horses in distress when the neck rug slips over the face!

no neck in the case of mine but they are both natives & get too hot otherwise.

ive just brought 2 lovley lightweight T/O's, a Saxon & a Weatherbeeta landu both are secondhand but fit really well (and were a bargin at £30 the pair) woo hoo.

But absolutely love the MT LW with neck. Fits my warmblood a treat and looks great.

I prefer detachable necks on my LWs so i can alter what they have depending on the weather
