As Adorable Alice correctly says always get a written contract even between friends, This lady nearly learnt the hard way but fortunately it came right this time and she has many years left with a beautiful mare who is loved dearly by us all :)

We all love our horses dearly and work hard with them and support each other along the way :) i am a qualified instructor and give lessons for free on the yard in return for turn out of my horses in a morning hehe.

Its a lovely yard no bitching and all happy :)

Oh I am so pleased about the result! I have only just read this and was genuinely shocked and furious for your friend! What an absolute slimy scumbag of a person, and I was going to say 3500 is rather high anyway unless the horse had some good breeding or something. Hooray for common sense and decency!!

Give your friend a big pat on the back for standing up to this horrid person.
 
Really pleased for your friend and her lovely mare. Excellent result and so glad your friend got herself organised and refused to be taken advantage of.
 
Excellent news. She hasnt lost a friend though, she was obviously no such thing in the first place !!
Dont know how people can behave like that and glad that the interested party pulled out when they heard the truth.
Restores some faith in human nature
